Ascension is an interdisciplinary production produced and performed by undergraduate students from the Dance, Music & Sound, and Theatre Production & Design programs at SFU’s School for Contemporary Arts. Ascension provides an opportunity for students to push artistic boundaries, collaborate, and create an original work outside of class time.
Each Ascension project must have collaborators that cover the areas of movement/choreography, sound/composition, and production design (ie. lighting, video design, props & materials). Project co-leads will be responsible for casting the performers in their piece. As co-leads, you are responsible for working with 2 other co-leads to create a fulfilling concept that embraces interdisciplinary exploration. You may apply independently with the expectation that you will find or be paired with 2 other collaborators.
